The Red Butterfly Necklace (above), from her Going, going… gone series, received the People’s Choice Contemporary Jewellery Award

This going, going… gone series focuses on the loss of our butterflies due to diminishing habitat and introduction of foreign species (wasps) Perspex has been used as it causes environmental degradation and is also a product of today’s society.  The feelers are designed to go too (fall off) to alert you as to the butterflies fragility but the wings leave us with the shadow/essence of the butterfly.  A donation from the sale of the butterflies is going to the Monarch butterfly NZ Trust www.monarch.org.nz
